As a result, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and keeping our community informed about the latest developments, best preventative practices, and steps that CCPS is taking to ensure a safe environment. Posted on April 15, 2020 CCPS Instructional Reminders and Report Card Distribution CCPS Students & Families, Welcome to spring and Phase II of the CCPS Continuity of Instruction plan. As we continue our “new” learning journey, we would like to share some important instructional reminders and updates. CCPS Continuity of Instruction Plan (Phases I/II/III) Phase I ran from March 18-April 2 while Phase II began on April 14 and ends on April 24. Students are to submit a total of 4 activities per course/subject for Phases I and II (one activity per week per course/subject). All activities must be submitted on 4/22 or 4/24 by email, hard copy at your child’s school. or via Schoology (option for 6th-12th). The third and final phase of the Continuity of Learning plan, Phase III, will begin on April 27 and run through May 15. Students meeting Tier I attributes, may elect to complete Phase III activities aimed at enhancing students’ readiness for a successful 2020-21 school year. Instructional materials will be available online , on Schoology (6-12), or for pick up at your child’s school from 8am-1pm on Wednesday, 4/22 and Friday, 4/24. If your student requires Tier II learning assignments as outlined in the Continuity of Instruction Plan , he/she will receive individualized instructional materials directly from the classroom teacher. Tier II (Phase III) activities will be due by 5/15. Should you have any student-specific questions or general inquiries related to Phase II or III learning, please use the communication methods outlined on the last page of the Continuity of Instruction document Continuity of Instruction Plan . 3rd Quarter Grade Access (2-12) & PK-1 Report Card Distribution With the COVID-19 closure occurring unexpectedly on March 13, school divisions have been charged with identifying alternate methods of communicating grades to students and families. All preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students will receive their report card in the mail during the week of April 19. While our families with 2nd-12th graders have been able to access grades for many years using PowerSchool, we recognize that some parents may need a tutorial on how to successfully use this platform. Beginning on Thursday, April 16, 2nd-12th grade parents can access grades electronically through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Should you need to establish a parent account or simply need support, please find guidance on accessing your child’s PowerSchool grades at ccps.us . If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher (2-5) or school counselor (6-12). In education, Herbert Monroe, Ed.D. Assistant Superintendent Posted on April 14, 2020 April 14, 2020 Preschool and Kindergarten Registration CCPS will open kindergarten enrollment on April 16th. Due to the COVID-19 guidelines, we have adopted a process that will allow parents to either access an enrollment packet on the CCPS website or pick up a packet at any of the elementary school food distribution sites on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Once completed, you may email the enrollment packet to the school registrar or drop off at your school’s food distribution site. This is a conditional process, therefore, document verification and student screenings will occur at a later date. In addition, CCPS will continue with the preschool recruitment via phone. If you have already submitted a Pre-Application, you will not need to do anything further. If your child is eligible, the school registrar will contact you to continue with the process. If you have not completed a Pre-Application , you can either access it on the CCPS website or you can pick up a Pre-Application at any of the elementary school food distribution sites on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Once completed, email the form to Calandra Simms or drop off at your school’s food distribution site. If your child is eligible, the registrar will contact you to continue the application process. As our 2019-2020 spring break draws to a close, I hope this brief communication finds each of you faring well in the midst of the COVID-19 closure. While far from a traditional April school holiday, it is my wish that each of you was able to experience some level of rejuvenation and joy while alongside family, outdoors in fresh air, or embracing a new or old hobby. Our leadership team is tremendously grateful for your continued support and collaboration as we navigate each passing day and week.
